Sourdough Starter Sourdough Bread Dough (to bake at home)
Sourdough is one of those rare things that's simultaneously ancient and absolutely on-trend — and once you understand how it works, you'll never look at a loaf of bread the same way again. In this hands-on class, our experienced baker will walk you through the entire process from scratch, demystifying a craft that can seem intimidating but is deeply rewarding once it clicks. You'll mix and develop your own Sourdough loaf by hand, learning the techniques behind hydration, fermentation, and shaping as you go. We'll cover the history and science of Sourdough — including why slow-fermented bread behaves so differently from commercial white bread, and why that matters for flavor and nutrition. Along the way, you'll sample a variety of Sourdough Breads to experience just how versatile this one simple dough can be. And since it's getting close to Thanksgiving, we'll focus on a Rosemary Olive Oil Sourdough Bread that is bursting with flavor for the holidays and is beginner-friendly! Before you leave, you'll take home your own fresh Dough ready to bake, plus a live Sourdough starter to kick off your baking journey at home. Fair warning: your hands will get a little messy, and you'll need to tend to your dough for a few hours after class for the best results — but we will walk you through exactly what to do. You'll leave with a new skill, a live starter, and the confidence to bake Sourdough on your own schedule. Once you start, you won't stop.
