Skip the takeout menu and the long wait for the cart to roll by. Join our Chef for a hands-on evening of Dim Sum, the beloved Cantonese tradition of small bites shared over tea, and learn to turn out a spread of dumplings, Wontons and Egg Rolls that rivals your favorite spot. After a welcome bite and a quick look at the history of Dim Sum, our Chef will introduce the essential ingredients, including where to find them and how to store them. Then it’s on to the sauces: a glossy sweet shoyu, a soy and ginger dipping sauce, and a sweet and sour sauce that will spoil you for the bottled stuff forever. You’ll also see how to make dumpling dough from scratch, so you’re never at the mercy of the freezer aisle again. Then it’s your turn. You’ll fill and pleat open-faced Shu Mai with pork, shrimp and shiitake, roll crisp Egg Rolls, and fold Wontons for both the steamer and the fryer. Our Chef will walk you through five folding techniques, from simple triangles to pleated crescents and flower buds, so your dumplings look as good as they taste. And before you head home, crack open a fortune cookie. We predict dumplings in your future.
